Dallas firefighters battled a three-alarm house blaze Tuesday as area temperatures were rising.
Crews responded to the fire at a two-story home in far North Dallas shortly after 11:50 a.m., the fire department said in a statement. Once at the scene, firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the home and through the roof.
Firefighters took a defensive approach to the blaze and raised the call to a third alarm in order to bring in more help. A combination of ladder pipes and hand lines were used to contain and suppress flames and keep them from spreading to nearby homes.
Two people were inside the home when it caught fire, and they were able to safely escape. The quick-moving fire spread throughout the attic and then moved down the house's frame, according to the department.
With outside temperatures climbing to at least 100 degrees, the department's Safety Division was closely watching firefighters circulating in and out of the operation to make sure heat didn't become an issue. No injuries have been reported, the department said.
